Abstract

The first species of the genus Austropsopilio is described from South America. The species, A. sudamericanus, closely resembles those from Australia and Tasmania but lacks the elongate ocular tubercle previously regarded as diagnostic for the genus. Problems in the taxonomy of the genus are discussed.
